Nashville, Tennessee Pond Netting
Pond & water feature netting is sometimes needed in the Nashville area when excessive leaves have the potential of making their way into the pond. If your pond is in the direct vicinity of large trees then you will want to consider netting your pond. In our area of Tennessee this needs to be done before the first frost or usually sometime late in October. Fall netting is an easy process. A net is stretched across the pond and anchored with rocks and/or pins. It is best not to have the net resting on the water surface since it will be difficult to remove with all the debris on it. Once all the leaves have fallen then the net is removed for the winter.

Nets Don't Look Great, They Work Great !
When we install netting to keep the leaves out, it's only a temporary installation. Covering up the beauty of your pond or water feature for a couple months to keep the leaves out can be a pain for your eyes to look at... BUT ! It will save you loads of time, or money in labor costs when it comes time to clean your pond in the spring. Once leaves blow in, they don't blow out ! Depending on how many leaves your yard accumulates, will depend on how long the net will stay up. Trees drop leaves at different times and rates, this will also factor into how long your net stays up.

Staying Aware Of The Weather
What a difference 24 hrs can make, this is the same pond before and after a snowfall ! Keep an eye on the weather forcast. If heavy snow is in the forcast you are going to want to take down your net so it does not collapse and freeze to the surface of your pond. This can have fatal effects for your fish. Minimally removing the net would be the most important, the poles can removed later.
